Emily Wagster Pettus December 30, 2020 - 3:28 PM JACKSON, Miss. - A tenured professor at the University of Mississippi filed a lawsuit Wednesday saying that state auditor defamed him by saying the professor should be fired for participating in a two-day âscholar strike. Sociology professor James Thomas said the Sept. 8-9 event was part of a national effort to draw attention to racism and injustice. Auditor Shad White has accused Thomas of violating state law by taking part in a work stoppage. White, who is a Republican, has said Thomas did not teach or respond to email from students during those days, causing tuition-paying students and taxpayers to suffer a loss. On Dec. 1, White demanded $1,912 from the professor. More than half of Whiteâs demand is for the professor to pay the auditorâs investigative costs and interest. ....
That they lacked evidence and lacked fact. in the end, due process won, fact won. her life may be altered, but so is judge kavanaugh s and his family forever. even though he is now justice kavanaugh, it will forever taint him for the rest of his life. alex, i have not practiced law for some time. but let s be very clear about something. there was absolutely evidence. dr. christine blasey ford s testimonial evidence is just that. the notes that she gave to her therapist is just notes. yes, it is, because that s what is accepted as evidence. if we want to talk about court standards, that is evidence for the purposes of court. testimonial evidence that you ve gifr given to other people and that you ve discussed with other people she testified she actually read there were 12 testimonies, not just four, and she still found there to be enough evidence. on wednesday, the senate had their hands on a report that was supposed to take a whole week, that didn t talk to the victim? come on ....
Hearing thinking adults say this is about the presumption of innocence in our legal system. this is not a clinical trial. judge kavanaugh had neither life, liberty nor property interest at stake. that s what s at stake when we talk about innocence before guilt. that is not the proper standard here. the proper standard is does he have the proper temperament as well as qualifications to sit on our nation s highest court. to me he proved he did. it has nothing to do with innocence until proven guilty and that is potential gaslighting by people like susan collins and mitch mcconnell who know better in proper proceedings. amy, i know you were shaking your head as don was talking, and this is in regard to the president s performance there, his mocking, or was it listening to don s talk about gaslighting? what made you shake your head? both, actually, because i believe the president was expressing his frustration and that he was mocking not dr. ford but the situation and the fact ....
Would be a new chapter for heidi heitkamp. everybody in that book lost because of a key decision and i m referring to the kavanaugh decision. joe manchin. how is that looking? even before manchan decided to vote for kavanaugh, i think he was going to win. trump will be there in rallies and the republicans will dump money in favor of republican nominee patrick morrisey but i d still bet on manchin. take a look at indiana. democrat senator joe donnelly. pretty much a statistical dead heat there. this has surprised me. it s mike pence state. i figure he move there and campaign for the republican the whole time. 19, 20 point trump state. donnelly is holding on. it s within the margin of error ....
Form s claim. christine blasey ford says she s 100% sure that her attacker was brett kavanaugh. but to president trump, he is still taking indirect aim at some of those female protesters. he said last night that he praised republican senators for refusing to back down in the face of shameless campaigning by the democrats, suggesting somehow that these protesters were part of a democratic plot. that really is the message, the post-kavanaugh midterm message that the president is really sending to his base, that people need to get out there and vote in order to keep both houses of congress under republican control, alex. it s interesting. you ve got mitch mcconnell saying these folks are just angry mobs instead of americans expressing their feelings like they have the right to do. thank you, jeff. i ll smile again the next time i see you. editor in chief and staff writer on the hill. i know you said kavanaugh s ....
