ISLAMABAD-Bridging gap between civil society and government is vital for bringing democratic and human rights reforms in the country, stressed the participants of an inter-provincial dialogue here on Sunday.
They said that human rights formed the foundation of democracy and a strong democracy guaranteed protection and safety of human rights in a society. The main challenge in this regard is weak engagement, they said, adding that political support is vital to stop violation of human rights. Titled ‘Inter-Provincial Exchange: Democratic and Human Rights Reforms in Pakistan’, the dialogue was organized by Democracy Reporting International (DRI) that was attended by lawmakers, rights activists and development experts from all the four provinces of the country besides foreign diplomats.
