Presenting his state of the province address on 24 February, Premier Sihle Zikalala said the KZN has begun talks with petroleum companies BP and Shell and the national government to purchase South African Petroleum Refineries.
Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy Gwede Mantashe said while petroleum supply was slowed, precautionary closures spared mining operations worse damage.
