The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) Acting Director, Ahmed Ogwell Ouma, requested support for full implementation of Africa s New Public Health Order to drive global health security, ahead of the 77thh UN General Assembly (Sept 13-26, 2022). In 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic spread globally, former Africa CDC head, John Nkengasong, promoted the call for a New Public Health Order to support Africa in building more resilient health systems, and to adapt and cope with 21st century disease threats.
