Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that Pakistan sincerely supported the peace process and a prosperous, stable and peaceful Afghanistan is in the best interest of the region in general and Pakistan in particular, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military s media wing said that the army chief expressed these remarks during a meeting with US Charge d Affairs to Pakistan Angela Aggeler. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday assured Pakistan’s full support to Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process during his day-long visit to the neighbouring country, the military said.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said General Bajwa held meetings with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation of Afghanistan Dr Abdullah Abdullah. Matters of mutual interest, current developments in Afghan peace process, enhanced bilateral security and defence cooperation and need for effective border management between the two brotherly countries were discussed. “The COAS reiterated that a peaceful Afghanistan means a peaceful region in general and a peaceful Pakistan in particular.
