PP to cooperate over perjury charges

Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane said on Friday that she would cooperate with the National Prosecuting Authority as it pursued charges of perjury against her.
Her spokesperson, Oupa Segalwe, has confirmed that she was served summons to appear earlier this week.
As a law-abiding citizen, the Public Protector will cooperate and present herself to the court on 21 January 2021 as required and is confident that the court will clear her of any wrongdoing.
The perjury charges follow a High Court ruling on Mkhwebane s Bankorp report.
In that judgement, the court found she had been dishonest in her conduct surrounding the probe. ....

Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane confident she will be cleared in perjury case

Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane says she will cooperate and present herself to the court in January.
This as the Gauteng DPP decided to prosecute after civil society group Accountability Now laid charges of perjury against her in August 2019.
She will appear in court in January 2021.
Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane says she is confident the court will clear her of any wrongdoing in her perjury case.
Mkhwebane was served with a summons to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate s Court to face charges of perjury.
The case was opened by non-profit organisation Accountability Now in August 2019.
Mkhwebane said that as a law-abiding citizen, she would cooperate and present herself to the court on 21 January. ....

The charges stem from a perjury complaint laid by civil society organisation Accountability Now.
It laid the charge against Mkhwebane following a Constitutional Court ruling which found her to have been dishonest in her investigation into the apartheid-era loan by the SA Reserve Bank to Bankorp.
Her spokesperson Oupa Segalwe says they received the summons on Tuesday.
“As a law-abiding citizen, the public protector will cooperate and present herself to the court on 21 January as required and is confident that the court will clear her of any wrongdoing.” ....
