‘Ending violence and harassment against domestic workers crucial’ 19 ‘Ending violence and harassment against domestic workers crucial’ CONSERVATION, Hotel, Domestic and Allied workers Union (CHODAWU) has called on the government to put in place mechanisms that will regulate and provide legal protection for domestic workers. The Union said because they are poor, many domestic workers don’t know their rights, as such they are constantly being harassed and their rights violated without legal aid or protection. CHODAWU coordinator for Zanzibar Francisca Cammilius said recently during a meeting in Dar es Salaam that the government should also regulate young girls working as domestic workers to protect them from regular violence and harassment. ....
