FOND DU LAC - A few familiar faces have joined the Advisory Park Board, among other appointments the City Council approved this month.
At Wednesday s meeting, the council approved three new members for the board: Lawrence Foster, a former city council candidate from this year; Amy Schingen, one of the leaders of a group that had opposed the Lakeside Park development; and Elizabeth Morrell, who was the executive director of The Arc Fond du Lac.
They join City Council Vice President Patrick Mullen, Fond du Lac Recreation Department s Renee Wagner and citizen members Shawn McCrary, Velesca Fleischman, Douglas Teletzke and Brian Johnson.
OSHKOSH – Voters will decide Tuesday whether incumbent Mayor Lori Palmeri will get a second term or challenger Kris Larson will unseat her.
Palmeri, whom voters first elected to the office in 2019, aims to continue COVID-19 recovery efforts, while Larson wants to make sure the council runs more smoothly in its response to the pandemic and other issues.

The Oshkosh Northwestern interviewed both candidates about what issues they feel are most important and how they would approach them if elected.
One of the first issues the council will need to undertake is reviewing whether to extend the citywide mask ordinance beyond April 30. The ordinance went into effect Wednesday after the Supreme Court overturned the statewide mandate.

FOND DU LAC - Wednesday night s City Council meeting will determine whether a proposed multipurpose building will be built in Lakeside Park, but many residents still feel that committing to the project would be unwise, considering many yet unanswered questions.
Thursday marks the 120th day since the presentation of the project s feasibility study and the deadline to evaluate the findings of the study and, if their goals no longer align, terminate the development agreement with donor group Lakeside Forward. Therefore, if the council wants to back out of the agreement, that action must be done at Wednesday s meeting.
The plan before the feasibility study included a multipurpose building with a restaurant and meeting rooms on the lighthouse peninsula and an amphitheater that could be converted into an ice rink on Oven Island.
