Ukraine – Joint statement by France and Germany at the OSCE (Vienna, 10 Apr. 2021) Share Statement by Germany and France on the occasion of the meeting of OSCE participating States under the Vienna Document Article 16 on unusual military activities on the Ukrainian-Russian border, at the invitation of Ukraine in Vienna on 10 April 2021 For several days, we as well as other partners have been observing large-scale Russian troop movements on the border with Ukraine. Such activities near the border are always a cause for concern. On our part, but especially on the part of Ukraine, this concern can be defused if appropriate explanations are provided. Chapter III of the Vienna Document was especially created for this purpose.

World Bank/ IMF - Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne's participation in the Development Committee meeting (9 Apr. 2021)

Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Minister of State for Tourism, French Nationals Abroad and Francophonie, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, is taking part in the Joint Ministerial Committee of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), known as the Development Committee, within the framework of the Spring Meetings of the World Bank and the IMF. The Development Committee will provide an opportunity to take stock of the response by international financial institutions to the global health crisis. The IMF provided more than $110 billion in financial support to 86 countries in the form of emergency and debt cancellation programs and the World Bank launched a $160 billion emergency plan aimed at strengthening national health systems and supporting businesses and households. In coordination with the COVAX initiative, the World Bank contributed $12 billion to support the purchase and deployment of Covid-19 vaccines in developing countr

International Criminal Court - Announcement of the lifting of sanctions by the United States - Statement by Jean-Yves Le Drian (2 Apr. 2021)

I welcome the American authorities’ announcement on 2 April 2021 of the lifting of sanctions hitting the International Criminal Court, particularly Ms Fatou Bensouda, Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, and Mr Phakiso Mochochoko, Head of the Jurisdiction, Complementarity and Cooperation Division. This decision is excellent news for all those committed to helping fight impunity, to multilateralism and to an international order based on the rule of law. France reaffirms its unfailing support for the International Criminal Court and its staff, independence and continued efforts to improve the way it operates.
