Guinea – French support for the fight against the resurgence of the Ebola virus (19 Feb 2021)

In accordance with President Macron’s commitment and in agreement with the president of Guinea, France is mobilizing its efforts to help the Guinean people in their fight against the resurgence of the Ebola virus. As soon as the Guinean health authorities announced a new epidemic, Guinea and France, with the support of the WHO and the local team providing French technical expertise made available to the National Agency for Health Security (ANSS), were able to identify immediate needs. The aid provided by France, coordinated by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, is being deployed in accordance with the three priorities identified in close collaboration with the Guinean authorities:

Jean-Yves le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, met today with John Kabudi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of Tanzania, who was visiting Paris. This visit is an endorsement of the high-quality bilateral relationship between France and Tanzania, reflected by increased commitment to the country, the intensification of our exchanges with respect to academic and agroecological cooperation, and our trade and economic ties. During this meeting, the minister underscored the importance of Tanzania’s role in East Africa, notably with respect to regional integration and the fight against terrorism. United States – Meetings between Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne and the French community (video conference, 18 Feb 2021)

Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Minister of State for Tourism, French Nationals Abroad and Francophonie, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, is taking part in a video conference today with the teams at our consulates general in Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Miami, New York, San Francisco and Washington. He will exchange views with French elected officials in the United States and representatives of the French community. Nearly 150,000 of our compatriots in the U.S. are registered on the list of French citizens living outside of France. These conversations will deal with the consequences of the Covid-19 epidemic – health, travel, residency conditions in the U.S. – for our community.
