Westmoreland Commissioner Gina Cerilli Thrasher was confirmed on Tuesday to fill a vacancy on the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board. Thrasher, 37, a Democrat from Hempfield is serving out her second four-year term and announced in February she would not seek reelection, instead focusing on a career as a lawyer.

Westmoreland officials on Friday said anyone who is fully vaccinated against coronavirus will no longer be required to wear masks at the courthouse and in most other government buildings. “We are all looking forward to getting back to normal,” said county Commissioner Gina Cerilli Thrasher. According to a memo released by the county’s human resources department, the updated policy mirrors guidelines announced Thursday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and adopted by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
