Outrage as police detain six protesters in Lagos

Condemnations have trailed the detention of six protesters who held a procession to mark the 120th day that soldiers fired live ammunition at #EndSARS protesters at Lekki tollgate.
During the shooting, some protesters reportedly died while others secured varying degrees of injuries.
The PUNCH gathered that those arrested on Saturday are Victoria Oniru, Tokunbo, Tunde Abass, Leon, Omolara Alagbala, and Adekunle.
It was learnt that the protesters had converged on Victoria Island when police officers from Maroko Police Station arrested them.
It was also learnt that the protesters were later transferred to Adeniji Adele Police Station before being detained at Panti. ....

The family of one Munirat Makanjuola, a resident of Mogaji Compound, Freeman Street, Lagos Island, has accused the police of unlawfully detaining the 25-year-old woman and charging her with murder and arson involving a man accused of kidnapping.
The man said to be a cop whose identity could not be ascertained was reportedly burnt to death by a mob in the area on December 12, 2020.
City Round learnt that Makanjuola was asleep with her cousins – Deborah, six and five-year-old Khadijat, when a man later identified simply as Aileru sneaked into their apartment and reportedly abducted the two girls. ....

turned 60 on Tuesday (December 22, 2020) the same day you retired from the Nigeria Police Force. How did that make you feel?
I feel humbled. I feel satisfied and sincerely, I appreciate God because God made it easy for me. The road was bumpy, challenging, demanding and it was such a journey that you don’t even know what tomorrow has in stock. It is such a job that is very dangerous and sensitive like an egg; if you hold an egg too tight, it will break; if you don’t hold it well, it will fall down. There was a lot of sacrifice to make even when it was not convenient. The job needed a lot of humility. I loved the job and tried as much as possible to follow the concept of policing that I called policing with the fear of God. I was a Divisional Police Officer in different places all over the country. I was in Jigawa State and Asaba, Delta State; I was in Port Harcourt, R ....
