Days after the demise of veteran actor, Sadiq Daba, tributes have continued to pour in for him from all corners of the movie industry.
Daba died on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, after a long battle with leukemia and prostate cancer. He was buried the next day according to Islamic rites at the Agege area of Lagos State.
The Actors Guild of Nigeria described Daba as a strategic thinker and visionary. A tribute sent to

NFVCB to Cut Ties with Unregistered Practitioners

To drive best practices in the movie industry, the Executive Director, National Film and Videos Censors Board (NFVCB), Adedayo Thomas, has said that the board will no longer engage with practitioners in the movie industry who are yet to be registered.
Thomas made this submission at the first meeting of the non-registered and registered professional association in the Nigerian movie industry in Lagos.
Citing “Act 17 sub-section 2 and 3 of the NFVCB Act’’, he said the directive was imperative in order to restore sanity to the industry that has been saturated by many non-professionals.
“A couple of months ago, we called for guilds and associations to validate and register their members. Even the Minister of Information was gracious enough; he extended it for them for another two months until January 31 this year.” ....

The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), on Monday, seized some foreign pornographic films and other unapproved films within Sokoto metropolis.
The exercise was conducted by the board, in collaboration with security agents, in some locations, including Ahmadu Bello Way, Emir Yahaya Way and Abdullahi Fodio Road in Sokoto.
Speaking with reporters, Adedayo Thomas, the Executive Director/CEO of NFVCB, said such illegal items were being seized from markets across the country during raids by the board, adding they would be destroyed to serve as a deterrent to others. ....

Former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Deputy Governor, Kingsley Moghalu, has welcomed a Federal High Court’s order for the apex bank to unfreeze bank accounts of Endsars protesters.
The court, sitting in Abuja, had during the week ordered CBN to unfreeze the accounts of 20 people linked to last October’s nationwide protests against police brutality and other national issues.
The CBN had earlier said that the protester’s accounts were frozen because they were under investigation.
Moghalu, a 2019 presidential candidate said the court’s decision was in order, in a statement he signed and made available to reporters on Friday. ....
