President Should Reject Flawed Commerce Report on Steel Tariffs

Introduction Following a meeting at the White House with a bipartisan group of lawmakers, the Department of Commerce (“Commerce”) released its report on the effects of steel imports on U.S. national security. The report, which was originally submitted to President Donald Trump on January 11, 2018, provides recommendations to restrict imports of steel products under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962.
