CLARKSVILLE — The regular Clarksville Town Council meeting was contentious and packed on Tuesday as word traveled of the possible reappointment of a new police chief.
Southern Indiana residents cast votes this week in municipal primary races, moving candidates ahead to the general election. Unofficial results show New Albany Democratic incumbent Mayor Jeff Gahan winning with nearly 80% of the vote, and a very close at-large race in Clarksville.
With Indiana’s primary election less than a week away, clerks in Clark and Floyd counties say they’re seeing a lower than normal early voter turnout for municipal races, few of which are contested this cycle.
