A request from the Montcalm County Planning Commission resulted in the Montcalm County Board of Commissioners questioning whether a county Planning Commission is even needed anymore. In Monday’s Board of Commissioners meeting packet was a request from the county Planning Commission to reappoint a county commissioner to the Planning Commission “as soon as possible” as the current commissioner assigned to this role Commissioner Phil Kohn of Edmore has not attended any of the Planning Commission’s meetings this year. According to the Planning Commission’s bylaws, any member who is absent from three consecutive meetings shall be removed from the Planning Commission and replaced with a new member. ....

Employees scold Montcalm County board for how office combination was handled

Three Montcalm County employees who work for the two clerk offices and a former county employee voiced concerns about the way commissioners handled a proposal to combine the two clerk offices before the Board of Commissioners voted 5-2 on Monday to move forward with the idea (see accompanying story).
