Brandi Johansen has spent months on the front-lines of the fight against COVID-19. Tuesday, the Nebraska Medicine nurse sat down to receive care herself, in the form of a vaccine. I want to be first in line. I want to be an advocate for everybody and show my excitement, Johansen said. Mere moments later, Johansen was back in action, giving the vaccine to her colleagues. Nebraska Medicine received nearly 3,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine Tuesday morning, providing hope to those who have fought a relentless war on this virus. It just really finally feels like there s maybe a light at the end of the tunnel finally with this vaccine, and I just feel a lot of hope. It s hard to put into words what I m feeling right now. I m very, very emotional, Johansen said. At CHI Bergan Mercy hospital, Dr. Adam Highley, a critical care physician, is back to work after receiving his vaccine on Monday.Highley said he feels normal and is not experiencing nausea or fever.
