[laughter] let s bring back fox meteorologist adam cloths live on hard-hit long island. adam. reporter: yeah, jon, hard hit, indeed. we saw 16 inches here in about the central area of long island and then stretching off to the east, farther towards montauk, the hamptons. the snow now, as you can tell, has wound down quite a bit. maybe it s isolate here or there, but really we re on back side of this. winds are still really strong. you ll see a lot of folks that saw some really heavy snow beginning to get on the back side of this because the brunt has lifted up to coastal areas. still in boston, stretching up into the main interior of new england. it is cold on the back side of this system, 19 degrees here. but the win chill gets it down closer wind chill gets it down closer to 0. p many new york, you see even ....
Adam adam klotz. hey, jon, yeah. the forecast as you can tell behind me ail two actually beginning to wind down at least in long island. that snow s been consistent throughout the entire day. finally getting a break. the wind is still strong where i am in central long island. about 16 inches of snow, and really the eastern half did see a whole lot of snow. let s look at the forecast graphics, and you do see, yeah, the heavier snow has lifted up into the boston area and even farther to the north, further up into maine, areas where you re still going to see a good amount of snowfall. really brunt is happening right now and will continue overnight. there are plenty of areas on the back side of this system that have cleared off, but it s leaving a whole lot of snowfall, and the wind is still whipping around me as i m sure you can hear. new jersey got as much as 21 inches of snow in some of the higher areas. much like we saw in long island, meningty of spots getting close to 20 inches ....
Could be higher. it s difficult to confirm. but right now here in central and eastern long island, we re looking at anywhere from a foot and a half to two feet of snow so far throughout this big nor easter. now here s the good news, as molly said, it s going to be moving quickly, it s moving out towards the northern atlantic. it clears out overnight. tomorrow, on sunday, not only can we get cleanup, but family and friends can get back out and play in this snow. tonight though you want to stay inside. temperatures here in shirley still the feels-like temperature when you come wine the wind, we re at -1 right now. so still quite cold. jon: way too dry for making snowmen. not right now anyway enter can t even do a snowball fight, jon. Tropical depression fred moves through. the storm could regain strength as it heads north towards the panhandle. fox weather meteorologist adam cloths is tracking both storms, and he s now live with more. adam. adam: hi, arthel. yeah, haiti in between the two storms you just mentioned. we ve got tropical storm fred or the remnants of it out in front, and back behind that system is going to be grace, something they re going to be dealing with there in the next couple of days. i am going to begin with fred as this is approaching the united states in the next couple of days. that low purchase system has slowed down and fallen apart, even the rain still well away from haiti at this point, so it is grace they re going to have to be concerned with. as far as what we are concerned about with fred, it s going to be a little bit of a rainmaker, 6-8 inches particularly on the west coast of florida and then getting into the panhandle as it looks as though this won t be making landfall until we ge ....
