Ten new youth substance use treatment beds are coming to Kamloops this spring.
The contract was awarded to A New Tomorrow Treatment Solutions and it will offer a short-term “live in” environment to address the “underlying causes of a person’s substance use,” according to an Interior Health press release.
The new program is a partnership between Active Care Youth and Adult Services and Dr. Mandy Manak, a Kamloops-based addictions treatment specialist.
Active Care has been providing services to youth and children in B.C. for nearly 30 years, Interior Health said.
“These home-like treatment environments will make a significant impact in the lives of youth who need a higher level of support. With this investment, we are well-positioned to make a tremendous difference for families and young people throughout the Interior region who need intensive substance use treatment,” Susan Brown, president and CEO of Interior Health said in a statement. ....
