Hurricane ian nears landfall as a strong category 4 storm. the national hurricane center updated put ian 75 miles west southwest of naples with a predicted landfall in the fort myers area late this afternoon. hurricane ian is not expected to pose a major threat to the oil supply. the gulf coast hub of refiners and producers is not forecast to be in the storm s path. where there could be some high winds they have shut down those rigs already. oil prices jumped tuesday though they remain near eight-month lows down sharply over the past week. there are, however, very real concerns about the already fragile supply chain. consumers may have noticed it when they went to stock up ahead of the storm. people all over the country could feel it after the storm. let s bring in douglas kent from acsm. ....

Sports governance worldwide has had the legs knocked out from under it. Yet, national and international sports administrators are slow in realizing the magnitude of what has hit them.
Tectonic plates underlying sports guiding principle that sports and politics are unrelated have shifted, driven by a struggle against racism and a quest for human rights and social justice.
The principle was repeatedly challenged over the last year by athletes as well as businesses forcing national and international sports federations to either support anti-racism protest or at the least refrain from penalizing athletes who use their sport to oppose racism and promote human rights and social justice, acts that are political by definition. ....
