Eidesvik’s Acergy Viking becoming eco-friendly April 21, 2021, by Nadja Skopljak Eidesvik Offshore is set to upgrade its service operation vessel (SOV) Acergy Viking as part of the company’s ambition to reduce its fleet emissions by 50% by 2030. Acergy Viking will be updated with a battery pack and hybrid propulsion solution, which is expected to bring to a reduction of diesel consumption (MGO) by up to 350 tonnes per year, with a corresponding reduction in CO2 emissions of more than 1,000 tonnes per year. The conversion of the 14-year-old vessel will be completed in the first quarter of 2022. Eidesvik stated that the climate and environmental upgrade means that three-quarters of its fleet will operate with hybrid battery propulsion by the first half of 2022. ....
