  OTTAWA On the day Ontario set a record for highest number of new cases of COVID-19, 52 more Ottawa residents tested positive for COVID-19. Ottawa Public Health reported 52 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa on Thursday, along with one new death linked to the virus. Since the first case of COVID-19 in Ottawa on March 11, there have been 9,211 laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa, including 388 deaths. Public Health Ontario had reported 70 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa on Thursday.  OPH told CTV News by email late last week that a realignment of databases was underway, which was leading to data discrepancies between local and provincial health authorities.

Ottawa sees lowest number of new COVID-19 cases in a week

  OTTAWA Ottawa Public Health is reporting its lowest number of new COVID-19 cases in a week. In its COVID-19 dashboard update on Tuesday, OPH reported 13 more people in Ottawa have tested positive for COVID-19 and one more person has died. The last time numbers were below 20 was on Dec. 8, when 18 new cases were reported. This comes amid changes to data extraction methods at the provincial level that gave Ottawa a negative case count on Tuesday. Health Minister Christine Elliott said the province made the change Tuesday, which led to an increase in the number of cases reported across Ontario.

Ottawa surpasses 9,000 COVID-19 cases

  OTTAWA Ottawa Public Health is reporting 70 more people in Ottawa have tested positive for COVID-19, meaning the number of total cases since the pandemic began has surpassed 9,000 on the eve of the first doses of vaccines arriving in the capital. One more person in Ottawa with COVID-19 has died. OPH s COVID-19 dashboard update on Sunday shows 9,057 total laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa since the first case was confirmed on March 11.  Public Health Ontario also reported 16 new deaths on Sunday and 1,678 new resolved cases. The province reported 55 new cases in Ottawa and says there have been 9,066 total cases in the city.
