Marion business to receive $75,000 in covid aid

MARION Accel Materials, Inc. will receive $75,000 in funding from a $1.2 million round of covid aid for businesses announced by State Senator Marc Pacheco in a Dec. 31 press release.
Information on the grant initiative found on the commonwealth’s website lays out part of the decision-making process for which businesses received grant as part of the Small Business Grant Program.
“This business relief fund targets the hardest hit small businesses that have an exceptional need of cash relief,” reads the site. “Though many businesses have been negatively affected by the pandemic, not all needs are equal.”
The site indicates that businesses which are restaurants, bars, caterers, and food trucks, gyms and fitness centers, personal services like nail salons and barber shops, and independent retailers were given preference for the grants. ....

BOSTON – Two Wareham businesses and one in Marion have each received $75,000 COVID-19 Small Business grants.
They are Dorothy Cox’s Candies Inc., and the Creative Development Child Center in Wareham, and Accel Materials Inc. in Marion.
Shirley Cox said the grant’s receipt was welcome news for the candy maker that is just eight years shy of reaching 100 years in operation. The company is just coming off the holiday candy rush, and was regrouping. The company hired part-timers to help meet the orders, and currently has about 17 employees. It was down to only four to five over the summer. In the past, it’s had up to 40 employees. The company, located at 8 Kendrick Road, sells retail and wholesale, as well as filling corporate orders. ....
