Letter: Lowering standards for magnet schools is not the answer

While I applaud her empathy for children who need help, integration and lowering the standards of academics or behavior is not the answer. Children who need help coping with emotions need schools such as Praise Academy in Shreveport. A school that will allow prayer and the power of a close relationship with God.
Caddo Magnet High, or Harvard for that matter, will not provide the remedy for vulnerable children.
Stop bringing down those who can focus on academics in an attempt to help those who can not. It is not the answer. Strong families with an active prayer life is the answer, and this is a fact of life that is beyond governmental or educational institutions. ....
