Editor’s note: Schools are closed to visitors and extra activities right now due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so we thought we’d take a look back at past philanthropic activities at local schools. Here’s a look back at local Lutheran students donating to a good cause in September 2017.
A dress down day at eight Lutheran schools in September 2017 raised more than $8,300 to benefit Lutheran South Academy. The Pre-K-12th grade school with 800-plus students located in Houston, Texas, experienced extensive damage to its facilities from Hurricane Harvey.
“The school sustained unimaginable damage right before school started for the year. We felt driven to do something. I’m beyond thankful for the generosity of the Lutheran community and pray the funds will bless the school and give them the opportunity to rebuild a little bit faster,” said Principal Zack Klug in a news release.
