Qatar- Al-Bukhari shines as the Amir Sword Equestrian Festival begins

(MENAFN - Gulf Times) Abdulaziz Khalid al-Bukhari astride GI Molga won the Future Riders 100cm class as His Highness The Amir Sword Festival for showjumping and dressage began on Thursday at the Qatar Equestrian Federation s outdoor arena.
The three-day championship carries a total prize money of QR500000, with the feature event Big Tour scheduled for Saturday. The winner of the Amir Sword will also be awarded a brand new car. Thursday, the mandatory veterinary checks and familiarization session was held.
The event is being held in accordance with the rules and regulations of the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI). Strict Covid-19 prevention protocols is being followed with only 10 percent of fan attendance being allowed at the venue ....

American horses lead strong Saudi Cup field as runners announced

RIYADH: With the Saudi Cup less than a fortnight away, the likely runners for the two-day $30.5 million event have been revealed.
The field will be led by a strong American contingent including Brad Cox’s Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile and Pegasus World Cup winner Knicks Go.
The King Abdul Aziz Racecourse in Riyadh will host 77 overseas contenders representing 13 different countries from around the world who between them have won 24 Group or Grade 1 contests.
Also lining up in the Saudi capital from the US will be Grade 1 Malibu Stakes winner Charlatan, and Tacitus, who finished fifth in the inaugural race last year and is owned by Juddmonte Farms. ....

The second staging of The Saudi Cup meeting, headlined by the $20 million Saudi Cup, has attracted a star-studded list of entries from the US, including Swiss Skydiver, Knicks Go, Charlatan, and Channel Maker.

Kano girl dies inside well as 17 passengers cheat death, survive auto-crash

A 10-year-old girl, Binta Shehu, Thursday, drowned and lost her life inside a well in Yanka Tsari village, Dawakin kudu local government of Kano State.
This was coming as 17 other passengers also cheated death and survived from an auto-crash along Maiduguri road in Kumbotso Local government area of the state where three vehicles were involved in head-on collision.
The Spokesperson, Kano State Fire Service, Sa’idu Muhammad confirmed the incident to newsmen in Kano on Thursday.
Muhammad said, “We received a distress call through Musa Ibrahim from Yanka Tsari village, Dawakin kudu local government at 14:20 pm.
“Upon receiving the call we dispatched our rescue team to the scene of incident where it was discovered that it was a girl of 10 years old, Binta Shehu, who fell inside a well. ....
