Kota Kinabalu: Mount Kinabalu staff, especially mountain guides, described the vaccination program for the group as a step toward preparing them to receive tourists into the new normal.
One of the guides, 48-year-old Suzana Bulangai, said vaccination was very important, not only to protect oneself from Covid-19 infection, but also for the tourists who would be brought later to climb Mount Kinabalu.
“Since there is a risk of (Covid-19) infection, this vaccine is very important for safety,” she told Bernama after the vaccination schedule on Thursday.

At an event organized by Sabah Parks (TTS) in collaboration with the Ranau Health Office in Taman Kinabalu, Kundasang, nearly 300 individuals, including mountain guides, porters and other TTS employees, received the COVID-19 vaccine injections. Around 60 health workers are involved in the vaccination process.
