Areas in Barrow with the highest and lowest Covid vaccine coverage revealed

TWO in five people in Barrow have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, figures reveal.
NHS data shows 21,882 people had received both jabs by May 9 – 40 per cent of those aged 16 and over, based on the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics.
Of those to have received both jabs, 19,511 were aged 40 and over – 53 per cent of the age group.
It means 2,371 people aged between 16 to 39 have received both doses.
Across England, a third of people aged 16 and over have received their second vaccine dose.
The NHS vaccine data also reveals variation in coverage for residents who had received at least one dose between different areas across Barrow. ....

Coronavirus cases for a seven-day average in Cumbria are continuing to decrease as the spread of Covid-19 is slowing across the county.
An interactive map, which uses data from Public Health England, shows how many people have tested positive for the virus in each area during a seven-day period.
The data is broken down by postcodes.

ALARMING figures have revealed how Barrow and Furness has rates for certain illnesses and diseases higher than the national average.
Figures compiled by the House of Commons library showed how the constituency lagged behind other parts of the county and the North West in key areas for health.
Figures showed that the constituency’s rates were higher than the national average.
Statistics for 2019/20 provide by NHS Digital showed how the area had an obesity rate of 11.85 per cent, higher than the Cumbria average of 11.52, the North West rate of 11.77 and the England average of 10.50.
The data includes GP patients over 18 with a body mass index of at least 30. ....

Barrow Covid-19 vaccination rates revealed

Nearly a third of people aged 45 and over in Barrow have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, figures reveal.
NHS data shows 17,374 people had received both jabs by April 25 – 31% of those aged 16 and over, based on the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics.
Of those to have received both jabs, 14,951 were aged 45 and over – 45% of the age group.
It means 2,423 people aged between 16 to 44 have received both doses.
The figures also show 37,387 people in Barrow have received at least one jab – 68% of those aged 16 and over.
Areas with the highest coverage:
1) Hawcoat & Furness Abbey, with 77.8% of people aged 16 and over given their first dose ....
