(NEWTON) The Jasper County Board had its regular monthly meeting for February last night in Newton. The Board : approved all county claims for January as presented : approved the $1,985 estimate from Barlow Lock & Security for video surveillance equipment for the County Highway Department buildings : agreed to adopt changes to the 1998 resolution authorizing Tax Abatement within Jasper County : approved the various appointments to the Joint Tax Abatement Committee : noted the renewal of the county’s Material Tax Levy which will be on the upcoming April 6 election ballot : heard an Economic Development report with numbers presented from 2020 : reviewed the various committee and county department reports as presented : and after a 75-minute closed session to discuss personnel and litigation, the Board re-entered open session and agreed to employ Abbie Fitzmaurice as the Jasper County Board Secretary : the next regular monthly meeting for the Jasper County ....
