Covid: Christmas, New Year celebrations banned in public places in Dehradun


The district administration has banned collective celebrations like parties at hotels, bars, restaurants and other public places on Christmas, New Year s Eve andNew Year to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Any violation of the ban on these dates will be punishable under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the Epidemic Diseases Act and other relevant sections of the IPC, said an order issued by DehradunDistrict Magistrate Ashish Shrivastava on Tuesday evening.
It is being done as a precautionary measure to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus infection, the order said.
The ban will have its effect in Dehradun, Mussoorie and Rishikesh where a large number of tourists come to celebrate Christmas and New Year. ....

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], December 21 (ANI): In view of the Uttarakhand Assembly Session on Monday, Section 144 has been imposed within 300 meters radius of the Legislative Assembly building.
Dehradun District Magistrate Dr Ashish Shrivastava issued orders in this regard on Sunday amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Speaker of the Assembly had informed that all the members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) will only be allowed to enter with a negative COVID-19 report.
Speaker Premchand Aggarwal had said, All the MLAs will only be allowed to enter after submitting their COVID-19 negative reports to the concerned authorities. If anyone fails to do so, he or she will be tested at a nearby spot and only to enter if they test negative. ....

Speaking on the occasion, Rawat congratulated the people of the city and said that this is an important environmental decision. He said that efforts will be made to ply 30 electric buses in the city within the financial year.
We will also work to get electric buses running in Masuri, Hrishikesh and Haridwar as well, Rawat said and added the Government of India is also working towards bringing more electric buses in the country. ....
