Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], May 7 (ANI): The Andhra Pradesh Police has filed cases against six private hospitals for irregularities in COVID-19 treatment, informed State Vigilance and Enforcement Director General KV Rajendranath Reddy on Thursday.
According to Reddy, joint teams of Vigilance and Enforcement, Drug Control and Medical and Health departments have held raids on 30 hospitals in the past two days.
They identified irregularities like treating COVID patients without permissions, collecting charges much higher than the government fixed prices, and not providing treatment under Arogyasri Scheme in six hospitals, he said.

As per Reddy, two private hospitals in Piduguralla town of Guntur district wrere booked for charging exorbitant fees.

Eight hospitals offer treatment under Aarogyasri scheme: Collector
The Anantapur administration has authorised only eight hospitals in the district for the treatment of the coronavirus patients and all of them offer treatment under the Aarogyasri scheme, Collector Gandham Chandrudu said on Monday.
“If any hospital is found fleecing patients in the name of the COVID-19 treatment without taking the required permission, action will be taken against them. We have readied 1,003 beds for the patients in view of the spurt in the cases,” the Collector said.

After resisting for two years, the Telangana Government has agreed to join the Ayushman Bharat Scheme launched by the Union Government two years ago.
“Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has taken a decision to dovetail Telangana’s Aarogyasri Scheme with the Union Government’s Ayushman Bharat Scheme,” Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar said.
The Chief Secretary has conveyed the State’s decision in a video conference held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.
