Comelec eyes up to 50K new voters in Negros Occidental

(PNA Bacolod file photo) BACOLOD CITY - Some 47,287 residents of Negros Occidental, including this capital city, have been registered as new voters, according to data of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) here on Monday. The continuing registration for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) this coming Oct. 30 is set to end on Tuesday. Provincial Election Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria said Monday the number of applicants decreased this week probably because almost all who are interested have already been listed. "But we're still preparing for the last day scenario on Jan. 31," he told reporters. In Negros Occidental, Ananoria said they expect to register up to 50,000 new voters, which would be "good enough." Of the total accepted applicants since Dec. 12, a total of 11,640 are 15 to 17-year-olds, who will vote for the new set of SK officials. "We have been conducting satellite registration in schools. 137K registrants sign up for 2022 village, youth polls: Comelec

(PNA file photo by Oliver Marquez) MANILA - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday said it has so far received over 137,000 voter registration applications, just days after the resumption of registration activities for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) set for December 5. Citing the figures from the Election and Barangay Affairs Department (ECAD), acting Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said the number of new registrants as of July 5 has reached a total of 137,363. Of the number, 77,508 are 15 to 17 years old, who can only vote for SK polls. Meanwhile 50,113 are aged 18 to 30, who are eligible to vote for both barangay and SK polls. The number also included 9,742 applicants aged 31 and above, who can only vote for the barangay polls. The Comelec's nationwide consolidated daily report recorded 31,957 applicants for transfer from other cities/municipalities and 7,440 applications received from those who would like to transfer from within the sa ....
