His first day in his new post will be March 22. “I’m thrilled at the opportunity,” he said. In a special meeting Wednesday, the city Health District Board voted to appoint Salvino to the newly-created position after holding an executive session for personnel. The housing department is being moved under the jurisdiction of the health department. City council had already created the full-time position in anticipation of the move.

Student seeks donations for wheelchair swing | News, Sports, Jobs

mgreier@salemnews.net A Salem High School junior is looking for donations for his Eagle Scout project to install a wheelchair swing at Waterworth Memorial Park. Sam Murray first approached the Salem Parks Commission last summer about his idea, which still needed the approval of his Eagle Scout committee and the Sandy Beaver district. Since then, he received all approvals necessary to go forward. Murray, a member of Troop 6 at St. Paul Church, posted details on the park department’s social media page and also addressed city council during a recent meeting. The cost of the project is estimated at $8,500 for the cost of the swing, concrete pad and signage.
