PHC judge expresses displeasure over Swat Press Club's affairs -

SWAT: A Peshawar High Court (PHC) judge has expressed his displeasure over a newspaper owner’s influence on the Swat Press Club.
Justice Waqar Ahmad, who heads a bench, said that it was a matter of concern that some influential, who had nothing to do with journalism, were taking interest in the press club and its related matters.
The judge, who had earlier listened to the arguments, also directed the Swat Press Club authority to submit an explanation before the competent bench within two weeks.
“It is astonishing to hear, the Swat Press Club is being influenced by influential political parties, owners of newspapers, and other individuals who have nothing to do with journalism at all,” he said. ....

Five medical colleges involved in irregularities, PHC told - Newspaper


PESHAWAR: A Peshawar High Court bench was informed on Tuesday by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) that five private medical colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were involved in irregularities in the recent admission process as they manipulated the 20 per cent interview marks.
The bench of PHC Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan and Justice Mohammad Nasir Mehfooz was informed in two separate inquiry reports submitted by NAB and FIA that five of the 17 private medical and dental colleges in the province manoeuvred the admission process wherein lower aggregate candidates of MDCAT were pulled into merit by awarding them higher marks in interviews. ....

PESHAWAR: A Peshawar High Court bench has summoned Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Environmental Protection Agency director general and Khyber tribal district deputy commissioner and asked them to submit a detailed report about unsafe disposal of effluents of marble manufacturing units and non-compliance of relevant rules in this regard in the district.
The bench of PHC Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan and Justice Mohammad Naeem Anwar ordered that both the officials should appear in person on March 4, the next date of hearing of a petition filed by a resident of Khyber district, Ibrarud Din against unsafe disposal of effluents generated from marble units in Malaguri area of the tribal district. ....

Court rejects plea for disqualifying KP finance minister - Newspaper


PESHAWAR: A Peshawar High Court bench on Wednesday dismissed a petition for disqualification of Provincial Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra on multiple grounds.
The petition, filed by JUI-F leader Maulana Amanullah Haqqani, alleged that the provincial minister was a dual national. The petitioner is also a former provincial minister.
The bench of PHC Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan and Justice Syed M Attique Shah pronounced a short order of turning down plea of the petitioner after completion of arguments by both the parties.
Advocate Ijaz Khan Sabi appeared for Mr Jhagra and refuted the allegations levelled against his client by the petitioner, stating that he was not a dual national and had never evaded payment of any tax permissible under the law. ....
