MANILA - There are 20 wage hike petitions filed in 10 regions of the country, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported on Wednesday. In a virtual forum, Rolly Francia, DOLE Information and Publication Service (IPS) director, said the regions include the National Capital Region (NCR) and Regions 3 (Central Luzon), 4-A (Calabarzon), 5 (Bicol Region), 6 (Western Visayas), 7 (Central Visayas), 8 (Eastern Visayas), 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula), 10 (Northern Mindanao), and 11 (Davao Region). Francia said aside from the petitions filed before the National Capital Region-Regional Wages and Productivity Board (NCR- RTWPB), groups have also asked nine other RTWPBs for an increase in the salaries of employees. "I am urging DOLE's central and regional offices to work double-time to address and resolve these petitions," Eleazar said in a statement. "The petitioners are asking for a PHP750 minimum wage per day. MANILA - Over 400 people have joined this year's national skills competition, for a chance to participate in the World Skills Competition in China next year, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) announced Monday. Participants from across the country will showcase their talents until December 16 in the competition to be held at the TESDA Central Office in Taguig City, as well as its offices in Cordillera Administrative Region, Regions 2(Cagayan Valley), 3 (Central Luzon), 4-A (Calabarzon), and 7 (Central Visayas). "This started with provincial skills competition, then moving to the regional skills competition. We modified the way competitions are held. There were three ways the competition can be conducted: in-person, virtual and hybrid competition.
