Recent spike in prices. oil has been soaring, especially in the wake of of the chaos in libya. we are acting on rumors and what s happening in libya. this is total overreaction you know on a lot of people s part. shepard: overreaction or not, oil prices right now are above $105 a barrel. and gasoline prices are jumping in a huge way. the current average around $3.51 a gallon. that s a 33-cent jump from just two weeks ago. the biggest two week increase since hurricane katrina. some places are selling it for a whole lot more. for instance at this mobile station in california gas is going for $4.89 for a gallon of regular unleaded. but the white house says high prices alone are not enough to open up the strategic reserve. the oil is number of factors that is looked at. that are looked at, rather in making that determination. but, not the sole factor. one other big factor is ....
