Kempsville boy's basketball defeated Green Run 54-53 during a game at Green Run High School on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024. After falling short in the first half, Green Run made a comeback to tie the game with under a minute left only to lose the game by 1-point that was scored on a free throw by Kempsville's Kamryn Harrell.
Maury defeated Stone Bridge 45-34 in the class 5 state championship at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, Virginia on Dec. 9, 2023. Stone bridge scored 17 unanswered points before a late interception by Kendall Daniels helped seal the victory for Maury.
