City of Helena approved a resolution to use Railroad Urban Renewal District funds to pay for parking, sidewalk, and crosswalk improvements in a portion of the Sixth Ward near the community garden.
On Tuesday, The Helena City Commission unanimously approved Megan Malkin's request for the Railroad Renewal Fund for the installation of a new mural in the works on The Railyard's building.

ALTON On April 6, voters will have five contested races for alderman positions.
Incumbent Brian Campbell is running unopposed for 1st Ward Alderman. In the 6th Ward, incumbent Alderwoman Stephanie Elliott is running unopposed. Contested races include:

Incumbent Alderwoman Carolyn MacAfee is challenged by Steve Potter for 2nd Ward Alderman.
MacAfee is a retired computer programmer from Owens Illinois Mold Shop who also served as a pricing clerk for Boeing and was the store manager for the Casual Corner clothing store. She is a high school graduate and completed two years at Lewis and Clark Community College.

ALTON – Madison County Board member and long-time Alton alderman Jim Dodd is being remembered as someone who served his constituents and spoke his mind.
Dodd, 77, died Wednesday at Alton Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. He had been in poor health for several years, and had not attended any county board meetings since spring 2017.
Dodd was first elected to the Madison County Board in 2012. Prior to that he had served as an Alton alderman for the 6th Ward from April 1981 to March 1997. He was also the owner and operator of Jim’s Mobil.
