THE Philippine economy grew by a slightly stronger 6.0 percent in the third quarter, state statisticians said on Tuesday ahead of the release of preliminary fourth quarter and full-year gross domestic product (GDP) data.
MANILA, Philippines: Following a sluggish performance in the second quarter, the Philippine economy bounced back to 5.9 percent in the third quarter of this year, the government reported on Thursday.
INFLATION is expected to drop in October to as low as 5.1 percent, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said on Wednesday, due to factors such as lower prices of rice, meat and vegetables, as well as the reduction in the prices of petroleum products.
INFLATION pressures will likely prompt Philippine monetary authorities to hike key interest rates again, Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corp. (HSBC) economists said.
