Also one sided. let s talk about the president s budget. should he have kept the chain cpi in the budget? i think he decided he wouldn t get any credit for doing that, so the $56 billion is half defense and half domestic spending, we should put that out there, and it s offset by other cuts to i think it s either me paid for, but nonetheless, this is not a bipartisan budget, and i think that s a missed opportunity. michael, i want to ask about the deficits which i discussed with the senators in an earlier segment because the white house talks a lot, and let s put it up on the screen, about the fact that in the next few years the deficits go down. 2014 it ll be $514 billion. 2015 it ll be $478 billion. but they ignore this, which is the fact that the deficits start going back up in 2016 and are back over $1 trillion a year by 2022. well, this is because of the looming cost of entitlements. look, i don t think it s worth bragging about the fact that we re now only borrowing $1 ....

Close. the president has that in his budget. if there s more, they left the door open for putting that back on the table. if there s a negotiation happening. but if republicans are going to continue to dig their heels in and not focus instead on investing in the middle class, which are also key components to the budget, then the president will not negotiate with himself. it makes a lot of sense. it needs to be seen in the total context of the discussion and the budget debate. do you buy that? not really. at the end of the day this is a political budget. it s a budget that especially when you look at six senate seats that are really important for the democrats to hold or republicans to win, depending on how you look at it, that s something they don t have to fight about. they really didn t want to give democratic senators a chance to get caught up in a mess like this. it s a strictly political budget, which i m not surprised happened and presidents do that. susan del percio ed? ....

Ceiling increase, with ted s or without ted s support. one more big story out of this. does this mean the budget wars are over, or are we in at least a cease-fire, and who won? well, for someone that was criticized fairly and fairly so for being a bad negotiator in 2011 and 2012, the president stuck to his guns. he stood firm and forced the scenario, making it more difficult for the republicans to use the debt ceiling as a political weapon. republicans can declare victory by pointing out that the debt ceiling is falling, projected to be $514 billion, down from a high of $1.4 trillion in 09, but it s not clear if that s a victory they ll be able to declare. joining me now is congressman charlie den of pennsylvania one of the 28 republicans who voted to raise the debt limit. congressman dent, good morning to you, sir. good morning, chuck. thanks for having me on the program. so does this mean, are the budget wars over, or are we in a long-term cease-fire? what does this mean, th ....

Representatives keep their majority and that the senate republicans are poised to perhaps take over that chamber. and that is the way to look at this through a political lens. one of those groups you mentioned said they wanted to go on offense. that is probably a sure fire way to upset the 2014 midterm apple cart and turn that over and perhaps give democrats the boost that they were looking for. but there is a silver lining for all republicans in this. almost kind of a long term victory for them. you look at the overall federal deficit, $514 billion down from $1.4 trillion in 2009. that means the deficit has gone down substantially. some of that is due to the economy. some of it has been due to increased taxes that have gone on. but a lot of it is also due to the fights over the budget and republicans came in saying we fought the good fight, we have reduced the deficit, now it s time to declare victory and go home. folk, we re breaking news ....

6 million instead of 7 million initially projected. the white house is touting the cbo s finding the deficit will fall to $514 billion this year. reassuring news to economists. the president s top economist was asked if this projected reduction in the workforce is a net drag on the economy. he wouldn t commit to an answer. he and other white house officials are emphasizing what they feel are positives that the report doesn t include, there would be more productivity, more job mobility and they think more people will strike out on their own as entrepreneurs. let s bring in our senior white house correspondent jim acosta. to be clear the cbo did not say jobs would actually be lost it said workers can choose to work fewer hours to meet obamacare requirements for coverage. you know, i just think many people have already made up their mind about obamacare, ....
