Has more. tomorrow is labor day, but for wall street, real labor day is friday when the august jobs report comes out. estimates are 180,000 jobs were created last month, and that the unemployment rate will hold at 7.4%. a surprise to the up side could mean stocks head south because the fed could ease up on the easy money policy, which has fueled the markets, if it sees signs the economy is on the mend. that s over here. wall street will also be looking over there to the crisis in syria, with more uncertainty this weekend about if and when the u.s. will strike, stocks may sell off, but if history is any guide, we could see a rebound if the strike is swift. if there s also worry gas prices may spike, fueled by unrest in the middle east, some forecast the tension in the middle east could hike gas prices from the national average of about $3.56 a gallon ten cents in the next ....
Network and she is here. thank you for joining us, brenda. what should we look for in terms of filling up our tank? right now national leet average nationally the average is $3.56 and many experts say we could see a spike of 10 cents in the next week or so. we have seen crude oil prices rise after the chemical weapons attack in syria and the threat of u.s. action. but we have to keep a couple things in mind. first of all syria is not a major oil producer. it canarely meet its own domestic demands. the worry is if it exacerbates the high tension in the middle east, supply could be cutoff. but first of all this is not april. it is september. that means that demand is going to be cooling down because the holiday travel season is over. so there are some reasons to expect a spike, but it might come down again. what about transport ....
Supplies is assinine. u.s. crude oil prices should be unaffected by what s going on. the price of crude oil, west texas intermediate, as it s called, went to $110 a barrel. that s a two-year high. it went to that level because there is the expectation or the possibility that oil supplies from the middle east will be interrupted by an attack on syria. that s my reasoning. if crude oil goes up like that, you can expect gas prices to go up like that. may i also report that news? the average price for regular gas today is $3.56 and rising. we ve got a holiday weekend coming. i think it will go up some more. my point is this, you are paying already a price for this threat of syrian intervention. you re paying it at the pump. eric: paying it because ....
