MANILA - The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday reported 27,638 recoveries and 16,953 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections. The latest Covid-19 bulletin indicated 202,604 active cases while total recoveries rose to 3,288,925 or 92.8 percent of 3,545,680 infections since the pandemic started in March 2020. Out of the active cases, 185,550 are mild, 3,176 are moderate, 11,277 are asymptomatic, 1,534 are severe, and 327 are critical. "Of the 16,953 reported cases today, 16,647 (98 percent) occurred within the recent 14 days - Jan. 17 to Jan. 30, 2022," the DOH reported. The regions with the most cases in the recent two weeks were the Western Visayas with 2,000 infections or 12 percent, National Capital Region (NCR) with 1,967 or 12 percent, and Calabarzon with 1,871 or 11 percent of the new infections. The latest Covid-19 bulletin indicated 230,410 active cases while total recoveries rose to 3,191,219, or 91.8 percent of 3,475,293 infections since the pandemic started in March 2020. Out of the active cases, 218,711 are mild, 2,982 are moderate, 6,902 are asymptomatic, 1,507 are severe, and 308 are critical. "Of the 15,789 reported cases today, 15,061 (95 percent) occurred within the recent 14 days Jan. 13 to Jan. 26, 2022," the DOH reported. The regions with the most cases in the recent two weeks were Region 4-A (Calabarzon), 2,248 or 15 percent; the National Capital Region (NCR) with 2,135 or 14 percent of new infections; and Central Visayas, 1,520 or 10 percent. In its latest case bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) also logged 1,766 new infections, which pegged the number of active cases at 37,159. Meanwhile, 239 new deaths brought to 43,825 the country's Covid-19 death toll. The confirmed Covid-19 cases since the outbreak started in March 2020 are 2,795,642, of which 1.3 percent are undergoing treatment, 97.1 percent have recovered, while 1.57 percent have died. "Twenty-two duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 17 are recoveries," the DOH said. A total of 214 cases previously tagged as recoveries were also reclassified as deaths after final validation. The number of active cases is also up by 4,008, pushing the active cases to 47,690, at least 74.4 percent of whom have mild symptoms, 5.1 percent asymptomatic, 2.7 percent critical, 6.5 percent severe, and 11.27 percent moderate. The DOH said 423 more patients succumbed to the disease, bringing the death toll to 43,044.
