edge of the famed new orleans french square. two people are currently in critical condition. no arrests have been made. christina? the search is under way for potential suspects. one of the people critically injured was shot in the chest. the shooting happened at 3:30er this morning at the evening of the french square. patrols were beefed up in the area because of the bayou classic football game. the mayor of new orleans called this incident a quote ugly disruption of an otherwise beautiful holiday weekend. one witness described hearing gunshots and seeing a crowd people scrambling for safety by rubbing into a nearby score. another witness described the terrifying moments after the shots were fired. it scared everybody.
