Dozens of bills passed by Mississippi House and Senate near end of 2021 regular session Share Updated: 9:14 PM CDT Mar 31, 2021 WAPT Share Updated: 9:14 PM CDT Mar 31, 2021 On Thursday, Mississippi legislators are expected to wrap up three months of work and end their 2021 regular session.A few of the bills passed include one that would protect pregnant inmates by banning certain types of restraints and another that would authorize new specialty license plates. A different bill would replace the Stennis flag with the new state flag on car tags that have been sold since 2019. Also included in the number of bills passed is one that would set criminal penalties for sharing intimate photos without permission - sometimes called revenge porn. Republican Gov. Tate Reeves will decide whether to sign or veto the dozens of bills that the House and Senate passed. ....

WUWF’s Dave Dunwoody spoke with two members of the local delegation –first up, a veteran state legislator. Doug Broxson, a Republican from Gulf Breeze, is beginning his second term in Florida Senate District-1, after defeating Democratic challenger Karen Butler in November. Prior to that, he served two terms in the House. Heading to the start of the session on March 2nd, Florida is looking at a projected $3.3 billion, two-year revenue shortfall, including an estimated $2.75 billion deficit in fiscal year 2022, which begins July 1. ....
