That s the first ever decrease since that data was first collected back in 1973. reading scores also suffered down 5 points. the largest drop in three decades. in both subjects, kids who already didn t do well in school had an even tougher time during the pandemic. so-called lower performing students had greater declines in test scores. education policy expert warns the findsings are a predictor of how well students might do in higher grades. i worry about the future given these scores because students who score low in early elementary school and then certainly moving into middle school are much less likely to see themselves as students and really engage in school. the study found that kids who performed the best during the pandemic had use of a computer, tablet and access to high speed internet. ....
