In a Laging Handa briefing on Friday, DILG spokesperson, Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said the DOH and the National Vaccines Operation Center (NVOC) are currently validating the explanations of the LGUs to determine whether they can be held liable for such. (File photo) MANILA - The country has logged below 1,000 daily new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases for two consecutive days with 975 new infections that brought the total case count to 2,829,618 since the start of the pandemic last year. The additional cases are slightly higher than the 849 recorded by the Department of Health (DOH) recorded on Wednesday. In its latest case bulletin, the DOH also tallied 1,029 new recoveries, reducing the active cases to 17,796. About 52.7 percent of these active cases are mild, 5.4 percent are asymptomatic, 6 percent are critical, 14.4 percent are severe, and 21.49 percent are moderate. Some 193 new deaths were reported which brought the country's Covid-19 fatalities to 47,875. According to DOH data on November 23, about 2.8 percent of 38,961 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19.
