We were passing our phones back and forth and keeping each other apprised of what was going on. where was your school compared to the storm? how close did it come? about three blocks away. we are off 240 and bryant. and if you go over from 27th street it goes 12 then 4th to 19th. the storm went between 4th and 19th. so presumably you were inside of the debris field. the wind was carrying and whipping around must have been hitting at the building. we primarily heard the hail. a lot of schools here don t have windows which turned out to be a blessing. it was hail and wind. i honestly didn t see much. we were locked down for i lost track of time. three, maybe four hours.
I can t even imagine what must be going through your mind to see your entire neighborhood is flattened. yeah, it s gone. where were you when it hit? i was at work. i m a nurse for a neurosurgeon. and i watched it on tv. and then soon as it passed, i left. and i came down. so the tornado was not threatening where you were working? no, it was at deaconess hospital. you said you knew it was gone. no doubt, as wide as it was and as fast as it came, it was gone. how long have you lived here? were you here for 99? i was here, i didn t live in moore in 99. actually, i did, i lived in the trailer park right behind here, i had a home back there, and we all went to the walmart. and stayed there until it passed. then once i saw everything was okay there, i worked for the american red cross and the search and rescue down there on 27th street, looking through homes and helping people that
business. the american people are probably more polarized than any time since i ve been here. as a result we see that polarization reflected here in the halls of congress. this is a moment of disappointment that i cannot conceal. reporter: legislation, national security experts call critical from protecting america. stuck in the senate because of partisan differences but that s just one stalled bill on a countless list of others from food stamp to drought relief. legislation left on the table that really affects people s jobs and lives. to be fair, congress did get some important things done like extending federal aid for student loans and sanctioning iran. it s not just our imagination, it has been far less productive than in the past. take a look at this. so far this 112th congress has enacted 151 laws. that s fewer than half the 385 laws enacted in the last congress and a lot fewer than the 460 laws enacted before that. a key reason this congress is less productive,
