Where Emergency Workers are hoping for lower temperatures and winds after at least 61 people were killed and as many again injured in a huge forest fire at the weekend. Many died in their cars while trying to flee the densely forested district of pedrogao grande. Portugals Prime Minister has declared three days of mourning and officials expect the death toll to rise as more bodies are found. Paul adams reports. A £34 million Government Investigation into allegations of abuse of iraqi civilians by british troops is to be shut down. It follows a scathing report by mps which called the work of the Iraq Historic Allegations Team an unmitigated failure. Thousands of cases have been investigated but without a single prosecution. 90 of investigations into abuse allegations from afghanistan are also being dropped.
