Vicente Danao Jr. (File photo) MANILA - The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Wednesday touted its accomplishments in its war against crime and ongoing efforts to contain the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic. Citing the latest data, NCRPO Chief, Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. said the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division reported 97,208 crime incidents recorded from Nov. 10, 2020 to Dec. 5, 2021, which marks a 15-percent drop from the 114,787 crime incidents logged from Oct. 15, 2019 to Nov. 9, 2020. Meanwhile, the Regional Operations Division said 1,079.69 grams of shabu and 802.47 grams of marijuana, with a total estimated street value of PHP7.4 million, were seized in operations from November 29 to December 3 this year, where 305 drug suspects were also arrested. Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, in a statement Monday, said the sudden demise of Lacson last week came as a shock to everyone. "Just when the numbers of Covid-19 cases are decreasing, we hear this sad news. This again is a reminder to everyone to remain vigilant in protecting ourselves against Covid-19," he added. Lacson, 46, served as a board member of the Third District from 2016 to 2019. Before that, he was the mayor of E.B. Magalona town for three terms between 2007 and 2016.
