I-65N to detour onto ramps at Exit 347 Tuesday, Wednesday

(WAFF) - All northbound lanes on Interstate-65 will be closed due to construction on Tuesday and Wednesday, said Alabama Department of Transportation. Traffic on I-65 between I-565 and Athens will be detoured onto Exit 347. Lanes will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on February 9 and February 10. According to ADOT, contractor Miller & Miller will be removing part of the existing bridge in preparation for overpass widening. ADOT said traffic will be rerouted to the off-ramp and across Huntsville Brownsferry Road to the on-ramp back to I-65 northbound.

(WAFF) - A two vehicle crash on Dec. 27 has claimed the life of a Harvest woman. Jennifer Spencer was fatally injured after her vehicle was hit head-on by another vehicle being driven by Eric King, 19 of Athens, on Huntsville Brownsferry Road near Lucas Ferry Road, just south of Athens. King’s vehicle crossed the center line and collided with Spencer’s. Both drivers were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment where Spencer later died.

This has been an on-going debate for months on whether to approve these projects that would bring hundreds of homes to Madison.  There is a property located south of the Oxford subdivision and East of Dylan Road. The second ordinance is located on the north side of Huntsville Brownsferry Road and East of Holladay road.
